Overview

LootLizard is a metal detecting companion app that helps you log finds, track sessions, and connect with other detectorists. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we protect it.

Data We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address, display name, and optional profile photo. This is used to identify you in the app and enable social features like group hunts and friend connections.

Location Data

During active detecting sessions, we record your GPS path to map where you've been and where you've made finds. Location data is stored on your device and is only shared with other users if you participate in group hunts with location sharing enabled. You control your location sharing level in Privacy Settings.

Find Data

When you log a find, we store the category, photos, notes, location, VDI readings, and other metadata you provide. Find photos are stored on your device. Photos are only uploaded to our servers when you share them in group hunts or social posts.

Health & Fitness Data

If you use a WearOS companion watch, we collect steps, heart rate, calories burned, and distance walked during sessions. This data is stored locally on your device and is never shared with third parties.

Photos

Photos you take of finds include EXIF metadata (location, timestamp, device info). This metadata stays with the photo on your device and is only transmitted if you choose to share photos through the app's social features.

Third-Party Services

Firebase (Google)

We use Firebase for authentication, cloud data sync, crash reporting, and analytics. Firebase processes your account information and app usage data according to Google's Privacy Policy.

• Firebase Auth: Manages sign-in (email, Google, Apple)
• Cloud Firestore & Realtime Database: Syncs social data (posts, comments, friends, group hunts)
• Firebase Storage: Stores shared photos (group hunt media, profile photos)
• Firebase Crashlytics: Collects crash reports to help us fix bugs
• Firebase Analytics: Collects anonymous usage statistics

RevenueCat

We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions. RevenueCat processes purchase data according to their Privacy Policy.

Google AdMob

Free users see ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data for ad personalization. You can opt out of personalized ads in your device settings. Pro subscribers do not see ads.

Data Storage & Security

• Local data: Most of your data (sessions, finds, fitness stats) is stored on your device using an encrypted local database.
• Cloud data: Social features (posts, comments, friends, group hunts) sync to Firebase servers located in the United States.
• Encryption: Data in transit is encrypted via TLS. Local sensitive data uses Android's EncryptedSharedPreferences.

Your Rights

• Access: View all your data within the app (sessions, finds, profile).
• Export: Export your data as CSV, JSON, GPX, or KML from Settings.
• Delete: Delete your account from Settings. Your data enters a 30-day grace period, after which it is permanently deleted from our servers.
• Privacy controls: Adjust profile visibility, location sharing level, and notification preferences in Settings > Privacy.

Children's Privacy

LootLizard is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by email.
